Where to Go NEXT Labor Day Weekend

What did you do this past Labor Day weekend? If you, like me, did nothing besides watch Notre Dame trounce Tennessee State in college football, maybe we should all start planning ahead for next Labor Day now. Planning ahead is a wise decision for several compelling reasons. Firstly, it allows you to secure the best deals on flights and accommodations, ensuring you get the most value for your travel budget. Popular destinations often fill up quickly, so booking early guarantees you access to your preferred hotels and activities.

Secondly, planning ahead provides ample time to tailor your itinerary and make reservations at sought-after restaurants or for exclusive experiences, ensuring you get the most out of your trip. You can also take advantage of early bird discounts and promotions offered by travel providers.

Thirdly, early planning reduces stress and last-minute scrambling. You can avoid the anxiety of last-minute arrangements and enjoy a relaxed lead-up to your vacation. It’s always nice to have something to look forward to.

Lastly — the further you plan in ahead, the more likely you’ll be able to convince others to come with you, making your trip more fun!

Here are a few destinations to consider for a short getaway next September. If I can help you put these plans in place, let’s talk! Reach out for a complimentary vacation consultation. Follow me on Facebook for more tips and suggestions.

1. Baha Mar, The Bahamas

Baha Mar in the Bahamas is an absolute gem. This tropical paradise offers pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a vibrant local culture. You can soak up the sun, swim with dolphins, and try your hand at water sports like snorkeling and paddleboarding. When it comes to dining, don't miss out on the delectable 'Conch Salad,' a Bahamian specialty. For accommodation, we recommend the Rosewood Baha Mar, where you'll enjoy top-notch service and stunning oceanfront views.

2. Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico City is a treasure trove of history, art, and mouthwatering cuisine. Immerse yourself in the works of Frida Kahlo at the Frida Kahlo Museum, explore the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan, and wander through the historic district's charming streets. When it's time to eat, you must try street tacos from a local vendor and savor authentic Mexican flavors. For a comfortable stay with a touch of luxury, consider the St. Regis Mexico City, boasting elegant rooms and excellent city views.

3. Panama City, Panama

Panama City is a hidden gem in Central America, seamlessly blending old-world charm with modern sophistication. Explore the historic Casco Viejo district, known for its colorful colonial buildings and lively atmosphere. For a taste of local cuisine, the famous 'Sancocho' soup is a must-try, offering hearty and flavorful delights. And no visit is complete without a boat tour through the awe-inspiring Panama Canal (before it dries up, that is). For a cozy and stylish retreat, The Bristol Panama is an excellent choice.

4. Antigua Guatemala

Antigua Guatemala is a picture-perfect destination with its colonial architecture and breathtaking landscapes. Wander through cobblestone streets, admiring the beautifully preserved buildings and charming cafes. Savor the flavors of Guatemala by trying 'Pepián,' a delicious local stew. For the adventurous souls, hiking up Pacaya Volcano offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. When it comes to accommodations, Casa Santo Domingo provides an authentic and memorable experience. I really have so much love for Antigua — it’s really one of those places that more people should visit!

5. Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena, Colombia, is a coastal paradise steeped in history and Caribbean charm. Explore the well-preserved walled city, where colorful buildings and cobblestone streets create a magical atmosphere. You should definitely indulge in 'ceviche' by the sea and immerse yourselves in the local salsa music and dance scene. For a luxurious stay, the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara offers colonial elegance and impeccable service.

6. Lima, Peru

Lima, Peru, is a gastronomic paradise with a stunning coastal backdrop. Dive into the local food scene, starting with the famous 'ceviche.' Explore historic sites like Huaca Pucllana, an ancient adobe pyramid right in the city. For a comfortable and stylish stay with unbeatable ocean views, check out Belmond Miraflores Park.

7. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo San Lucas is a beachfront paradise known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant nightlife. Relax on Medano Beach, dine on fresh seafood at local beachfront eateries, and dance the night away at iconic spots like El Squid Roe. If you're looking for a chic retreat, The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, offers modern luxury and breathtaking ocean views.

8. Charleston, South Carolina

This historic city oozes Southern hospitality and boasts a rich cultural heritage. Stroll along the cobblestone streets of the historic district, where antebellum architecture, quaint gardens, and charming boutiques await. The city's culinary scene is a delight, and you must savor iconic dishes like shrimp and grits while enjoying the warm Southern hospitality. The Dewberry Hotel, with its elegant and intimate atmosphere, is the perfect place to call home during your Charleston getaway.
